Ken Chapin: Plein Air & Impressionist Paintings
Little Blue Trace
gouache on watercolor paper
5x10 inches
This view depicts the south end of the Little Blue Trace Trail in eastern Jackson County, Missouri. It is my first attempt at gouach (opaque watercolor) in quite a few years (decades?). I love how you can use water to reactivate dry paint on the palette, and soften edges on the dry painting itself. Lighter weight supplies are easier on an old back to carry in to your painting location too.
