Ken Chapin: Plein Air & Impressionist Paintings
A Cold Light
Oil on Panel
8x10 inches
I guess I'd have to confess this is a "faux plein air painting". I wasn't outside in the open air when I painted it. I was seated comfortably indoors, looking out my dining room window (which was CLOSED, letting none of that frigid plein air in). But it was painted from direct observation. I hoped to communicate the moody nighttime hush of snow and streetlight illumination in this suburban cul-de-sac.

Plein Air Painting (painted outdoors on location).
