Small Works
My small hand held easel ("Pochade Box") enabled me to stand and paint on location in Vic's General Store at Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead Overland Park Kansas. The story aspect of this painting sort of happened by itself. I put the figure of a small child in the doorway. I then noticed his proximity to the bin of goods and the cashier's position off to the side. So I added the hint of his arm reaching into the bin. I felt very honored when the painting was given a first place award in one of the oil painting categories at the 2012 STEMS Plein Air Painting event.
